Key Responsibilities
- Organize and maintain case files; update legal case management database; identify deadlines and critical dates; notify relevant parties; prepare, maintain, and update logs and databases.
- Draft discovery requests; review documents and information provided by opposing parties; draft correspondence to opposing counsel outlining deficiencies.
- Draft various documents, including correspondence, pleadings, witness affidavits, and factual portions of memorandums in support of motions.
- Assist attorneys at meetings, depositions, trials, arbitrations, and hearings.
- Draft and track third party records requests, subpoenas, and FOIA requests
- Coordinate with clients, witnesses, court personnel, and external parties to schedule meetings and hearings
- Work with experts including exchange of documents/reports and coordinating deadlines
- Communicate with client regarding case status and updates
- Prepare files for hearings, trials, and depositions, including organizing exhibits and witness materials
- Assist with trial logistics and provide courtroom support as needed
- Maintain appropriate systems for collecting and organizing case materials
- Review and analyze case materials, including correspondence, pleadings and other case documents and records
- Prepare summaries, chronologies, and indices
- Manage multiple projects and cases with competing deadlines while adapting to changing priorities to meet client and attorney needs
- Education: High School Diploma or GED
- Experience: 0-3 years’ experience working in a law firm.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to prioritize assignments in a dynamic environment and adapt to shifting demands;
- Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite; and
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Notary Public
- Paralegal Certification or equivalent education
