Shop Manager
Skills / Qualifications
- Experience managing a fabrication shop and supervising a team of fabricators
- 10 years of experience with strong emphasis on fabrication and welding
- Strong understanding of fabrication techniques and methods
- Ability to motivate and manage a team of fabricators, assign tasks effectively, and foster a positive work environment
- Highly adaptable, quick learner, ability to perform Manager role without guidance or supervision
- Experience overseeing plate work, fabrication of heavy structures, vessels and/or tanks
- Experience with rigging, overhead crane operation are a plus
- Leader, problem solver, situational awareness
- Mechanically skilled, practical, logical thinking
- Certified Welding Supervisor (CWS) is a plus
- Computer skills (Microsoft products, emails, spreadsheets)
- Excellent verbal and written skills, ability to communicate effectively
- Safety minded, background
Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, motivate and mentor the Welders, Fitters and Fabricators while evaluating performance and addressing issues within the team
- Responsible for managing the flow of work through the shop to ensure on-time delivery while meeting Quality Standards and Safety protocols
- Responsible for adherence to welding procedures, company procedures, correct application of rigging and Quality Standards
- Monitor and teach fabrication techniques & methods & correct rigging application for lifts
- Coordinate with other Team Managers for scheduling of work
- Effectively communicate the daily plan to shop personnel, coordinate with Management and resolve conflict
- Motivate others to perform their jobs effectively and be responsible in making decisions
- Utilize available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines
- Ensure the Safety of the Team and others while work is performed
- Monitor and maintain the organization of the shop, ensure shop orderliness, housekeeping and appearance
- Work well with others and have a team-oriented mindset
