Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Shipping and Receiving Coordinator to manage all aspects of shipping and receiving, including handling hazardous materials such as biological, chemical, and radioactive items. This role involves verifying shipments, coordinating deliveries, preparing compliant shipments, and overseeing shipping personnel. Additional responsibilities include mail processing, off-site records management, and supporting Facilities department initiatives, ensuring operational efficiency. This is a full-time, onsite position with a schedule from Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, including a 30-minute lunch break.
Responsibilities
- Manage all incoming shipments and packages, logging them into the package management system, inspecting for damage or defects, and reconciling identification information with purchase orders. Report and resolve any discrepancies
- Coordinate package delivery and distribution to requisitioning departments, ensuring delivery confirmation and notifying recipients. Facilitate deliveries within the hospital campus
- Prepare domestic and international shipments, ensuring proper packaging, labeling, and accurate documentation (e.g. commercial invoices, bills of lading)
- Support internal shippers with guidance on shipment preparation and documentation requirements, acting as a resource for shipping and packaging protocols
- Enforce safety protocols for handling hazardous materials such as chemicals and biological samples. Assist with ensuring shippers are appropriately trained
- Collaborate with carriers and logistics companies to ensure timely, cost-effective deliveries
- Work with the Facilities Coordinators to maintain accurate compressed gasses inventory records and ensure the compressed gas cylinders are delivered, installed and operate correctly
- Work with the Purchasing Manager and Facilities Coordinators to create purchase orders, reconcile invoices
- Assist with facility operations, including relocation, additions, modifications, and event setup/breakdown as needed
- Ensure the shipping/receiving area remains clean, organized, and free of safety hazards
Qualifications
- Education & experience: High school diploma or equivalent required, with 1-3 years of experience in shipping and receiving
- Regulatory compliance: Ability to learn or prior training in the handling and shipping of hazardous materials per DOT, IATA, and other federal and state regulations
- Physical requirements: Frequent walking, standing, stooping, and reaching. Must be capable of lifting up to 75 lbs, carrying up to 50 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs, and operating pallet jacks
- Skills & attributes: Strong dependability, accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent customer service, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Technical proficiency: Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, with familiarity in using apps and mobile devices
Compensation
$20.34 to $27.66 per hour
