Title: Security Guard
Reports to: Bench Mark Program Director of Programs
Position Summary: The Security Guard must create a welcoming environment for all Bench Mark Program participants, volunteers, and visitors. They must operate all locked entrance doors, welcome participants, volunteers, and visitors using the procedures set by Bench Mark Program Director of Programs, including screening for weapons and directing them to their desired destination within the facility.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities: The Security Guard is the first person that participants, volunteers, and visitors see when they enter the Bench Mark Program facility. Their primary duties are to make participants, volunteers, and visitors feel welcome, and also ensure that each person entering the facility is screened for weapons and checked in using the appropriate attendance software. They are responsible for monitoring the entrance door, the lobby, both restrooms in the lobby, and the staircase leading to the second floor of the facility. They will operate the metal detector and unlock doors to allow students to pass into different parts of the facility. They will monitor personal items coming in and out of the designated lockers within the lobby, monitor security cameras, and respond to door alarms throughout the facility. They will also be tasked with monitoring the parking lot in front of the building entrance.
Qualifications:
- Ability to utilize a computer/ipad to observe video and manage check-in software
- Ability to understand and operate a walk-through metal detector and metal detector wand
- Ability to respond in a calm and collected manner to a potential threat
- Ability to de-escalate highly charged situations
- Ability to develop friendly and trusting relationships with youth, volunteers, and visitors
- Ability to work with a diverse population of participants
- Conducts themselves with integrity and maturity, treating all visitors to the facility (participants, staff, volunteers, and visitors) equally
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Previous building security experience preferred

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 β 20 per week

- 4 hour shift
- Evening shift
- Holidays
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends
