What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Content Developer position at Benchmark Education Co?
Benchmark Education is seeking Senior Content Developers (Senior Editors), to work with publishers to develop, edit, and guide professional development books and related video and digital professional learning tools through production and design.
*All applicants must have past work experience in educational publishing. Those without this requirement will automatically be disqualified.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Review book proposals and help to conceptualize content with editorial and design team.
· Direct revisions and line-edit manuscript and oversee production stages, working directly with authors, copyeditors, graphic designers, and photo researchers.
· Work with Publisher, authors, and marketing and sales team to envision and execute a strategic launch into the education market.
· Serve as editorial point person for social media campaigns.
· Attend regularly scheduled status meetings with Publisher and other Teams to report on workflow and content issues.
· Create or update acquisition plan documents and other PD Essentials tracking documents.
· Attend education conferences and other events.
· Support Sales and Marketing by reviewing pullouts, space ads, pre-pub flyers, and other sales support tools for accuracy and completeness.
· Read professional journals to increase market and pedagogical knowledge.
Job Requirements/Skills and Experience:
· At least 3 years of experience developing literacy materials for an educational publisher
· B.A. in English, education, or a related field (M.A. a plus)
· Superior writing, editing and project management skills
· Current knowledge of literacy research and instruction a real plus
· Intermediate-Advanced proficiency, MS Office
· Basic proficiency, Adobe Creative Suite is preferred
· Comfortable juggling several projects concurrently
· Excellent communication and organizational skills
· Teaching experience is a huge plus
