We are looking to expand our team with an experienced Estimator who has expertise in solar projects to help us continue to grow and deliver top-tier service.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, skilled Estimator with a background in electrical contracting and experience with solar energy systems. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical and solar projects, ensuring that our bids are competitive and meet client needs while maintaining profitability. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems, solar technologies, and the ability to read and interpret project blueprints and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform risk evaluation and oversee the bid submission process.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for electrical and solar projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Business development, client engagement, budget development/submission, and detailed and comprehensive quantity takeoff for both large and small projects.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to determine project requirements.
  • Review project scope and work closely with engineers, project managers, procurement teams, and subcontractors to identify cost-effective solutions.
  • Perform detailed cost evaluations, solicit bids from subcontractors and suppliers, and assess their scope, qualifications, and pricing.
  • Work closely with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project bids meet their requirements.
  • Manage the preparation of proposals and bids, ensuring they are submitted on time.
  • Track and monitor changes in project scope and adjust estimates accordingly.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of market trends, material costs, and industry standards for electrical and solar projects.
  • Provide input into project planning, scheduling, and procurement processes to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Identify new business opportunities and collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to help grow the company’s client base, focusing on expanding the solar energy portfolio and cultivating lasting client relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator, with a strong focus on electrical contracting for solar energy systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical and solar installation processes, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and solar system blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with estimating software and tools (Accubid Anywhere, Accubid Classic, HelioScope, Bluebeam, etc).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with team members, clients, and vendors.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • [Preferred] Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • [Preferred] Solar certification or specialized training in solar energy systems (e.g., NABCEP).

Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions

· Physical Requirements: The Estimator may be required to sit for extended periods of time while working at a desk or computer. Occasional walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs may be necessary when reviewing project sites or coordinating with field teams. The role may require the ability to navigate through construction sites and job locations in various weather conditions.

· Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed in an office environment, but some time will be spent on job sites in field conditions. Occasional travel may be required to visit project locations. The job may involve extended hours during peak project periods, especially when working to meet deadlines for bids and proposals.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
