As a member of the Risk Management team, the Safety Specialist reports to the Senior Safety Director and has a strong relationship with the Operations, Resident Care, and Facilities teams. In this role you will be responsible for supporting all safety related regulatory, compliance, risk management, and loss prevention programs at the Corporate and community level.
This is a field-based role that will require travel to the various Benchmark communities, the home office, and elsewhere with a particular concentration on Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Long Island.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Root Cause Analysis- Lead and participate in investigations and fact gathering of high-risk incidents
Perform job safety analysis and observations
Help identify community specific challenges / opportunities
Explore and develop innovative strategies to mitigate resident and associate incidents
Examine data, analyze and identify trends, and prepare reports, assist to develop strategies and solutions.
Help develop and facilitate loss control and safety training including but not limited to:
Ergonomics
Resident Safety
Driver and Vehicle Safety
OSHA Compliance
Respiratory Training / Fit Testing
Company Standards and Practices
Incident Tracking
Internal Compliance Tool
Participate in community inspections and compliance audits
Assist development of standards and practices around a variety of risk mitigation strategies
Champion associate engagement and recognition programs
Provide technical support on regulatory requirements, recordkeeping, reporting, etc.
Develop safety committee content and departmental communications to stimulate and maintain associate interest while improving health and safety performance and compliance
Identify and improve areas of opportunity in loss prevention, incident reduction, and compliance assurance at focus communities
Tracking, Reporting and Archiving of community compliance deliverables
Safety committee meeting minutes and other compliance deliverables
Community inspections and mock compliance audits
Fire and Life Safety Drills
OSHA 300, 301, 300A reporting
Other projects as needed
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE
Bachelor’s degree in safety, risk management or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle
Acceptable MVR pursuant to Benchmark’s Vehicle Safety policy
Professional certifications are a plus (ASP, CSP, ARM, etc.)
