Accounting Manager:
Bender Equity is looking for an Accounting Manager to support its current portfolio of investments and assist with accounting, financial planning and analysis. The candidate will act as an Accounting Manager for some investments and be an auditor for others. The Accounting Manager will be tasked primarily with monthly close, reviewing or preparing monthly reconciliations, and managing day-to-day financial operations. The Accounting Manager will report to the VP of Finance and Accounting and will be a hybrid/ remote position (preference in the Syracuse area).
Primary Responsibilities:
• Accounting & Financial Operations:
- Record complex transactions as needed, and review transactions recorded by others.
- Managing receivables and collections.
- Managing payables and disbursements.
- Assist VP with any external audits.
- Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and documentation.
- Timely financial reporting and preparing financial statements.
- Work with VP of Finance and Accounting to improve and implement internal controls.
- Prepare and update budgets and cash flow projections.
• Investment Support Portfolio and Business Support:
- Assist in preparing year-end compliance information.
- Analyze financial statements and budgets of portfolio companies to provide guidance.
- Reconciling intercompany transactions and assisting portfolio companies in recording them.
- Understand and assist affiliated companies with accounting challenges on an ad-hoc basis.
- Research and evaluate accounting policies, software, or other topics, on an ad-hoc basis.
- As needed, support to portfolio companies in compliance.
Core Results:
• Deliver 100% accurate monthly reporting and support to VP of Finance for review within 10 days of close.
• Maintain organized electronic backup to support audits.
• Full understanding and accurate recording of all transactions.
• Manage some state compliance and registration to ensure that all filings are timely.
Successful candidates will have the following attributes:
Qualifications:
• 4-6 years Public Accounting or Controller experience (CPA Preferred).
• BA in Accounting or Finance.
• Inventory systems experience preferred.
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities.
• Banking or financial services experience preferred.
Skills:
• Strong written and verbal communications.
