Summary
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to manage the civil scope of construction projects from mobilization to completion. This role requires a strong leader who can oversee daily operations on-site, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency while maintaining Benderson's high standards. The Superintendent will collaborate closely with subcontractors to ensure that all work meets project specifications, stays on schedule, and adheres to budgetary guidelines.
Principal Responsibilities & Duties
- Planning and Coordination : Plan, coordinate, and direct the efficient use of labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and material suppliers to achieve the highest quality.
- Drawing Review and Issue Resolution : Study contract drawings and specifications in detail, verify dimensions, and communicate any discrepancies or omissions to designers and the Project Manager.
- Contractor Selection Support : Assist management in selecting the most suitable contractors for each job at competitive prices.
- Schedule Management : Monitor construction progress and provide weekly updates on schedule status to the Project Manager.
- Inspection and Quality Control : Inspect subcontractor work to verify its quality and compliance with construction documents and specifications.
- Documentation and Approvals : Review, approve, and address T&M sheets daily as submitted by subcontractors.
- Utility Coordination : Meet with utility company representatives on-site to coordinate utility service installations.
- Material and Equipment Management : Expedite orders for materials and equipment to ensure timely delivery and alignment with project needs, maintaining a “just-in-time inventory” approach.
- Team and Subcontractor Collaboration : Work closely with field personnel, subcontractors, and their crews to ensure effective execution of project tasks.
- Tenant Coordination : Communicate and coordinate construction activities with tenant representatives to minimize disruptions to their operations while maintaining project efficiency.
- Jobsite Safety : Promote and ensure jobsite safety through proactive measures and enforcement of safety protocols.
