Staff Accountant

BendTec, LLC has an exciting opportunity available for a Staff Accountant to be an integral part of our team. Direct responsibility for maintaining vendor accounts, assisting in inventory and fixed asset management, serving as an intermediary between Operations and the Accounting department, managing operational data, and producing various accounting and financial reports. Reports to the Controller.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Assist in ensuring timeliness and accuracy of the financial statements.
• Process payments to suppliers and payments from customers including customer or supplier set up.
• Perform bookkeeping work, including posting data or keeping other records concerning costs of goods or services or the shipment of goods. 
• Communicate with customers for timely payments.
• Assist with supplier and customer insurance requirements.
• Compute credit terms, discounts, shipment charges, or rates for goods or services to complete billing documents. 
• Manage sales and use tax requirements with vendors and items purchased.
• Manage operational data and maintaining data accuracy and integrity.
• Prevent inaccuracies in financial statements by maintaining internal control procedures and ensuring data integrity.
• Conduct account reconciliations and analysis.
• Developing proper operational, data documentation and troubleshooting procedures.
• Cross train to multiple accounting functions.
• Assist in the company’s monthly and yearly closing.
• Prepare and submit annual 1099 statements.
• Manage inventory, fixed assets, and file retention policies.
• Assist in special projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
• Experience: 2-5 years’ experience in the accounting field.
• Computer Skills: Microsoft Office; experience with JD Edwards - a plus. 
• Certifications & Licenses: None specifically required.
• Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
• Possess the trait of accountability, detail oriented, loyal, organized, reliable, honest, research skills, and can work under pressure.
• Ability to effectively listen actively as well as communicate both orally and in writing.
