Job Title: Strength and Conditioning Coach
FSLA Status: Exempt; part-time
Work Hours: Variable, typically 3-6 PM

Stipend: $20,000/year
Job Summary
The strength and conditioning coach reports to the Director of Athletics and is generally responsible for the management of the strength and conditioning program for the athletic programs at BSoR. Responsibilities include teaching skill development and facility rules and expectations, and imparting good sportsmanship, teamwork and Christian values to athletes through instruction and example. This position is for the duration of the school year as well as the summer season and is part-time. The employee is not eligible for employee benefits as described in the Employee Handbook, however, this position can be coupled with a full-time or part-time position in the schools to achieve full-time employment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides instruction for strength and conditioning, speed and agility skill development of student athletes; works to continuously improve personal skills and knowledge of training, effective teaching skills, and prevention and care of injuries.
- Imparts good sportsmanship, teamwork, and Christian values to athletes through instruction and example. Good manners and respect must be demonstrated at all times to coaches, athletes, and parents. Adheres to all policies in Coaches Handbook, including VISAA Code of Conduct.
- Implements and executes a schedule of strength and conditioning training that accommodates both in season and out of season teams, working with the athletic director and head coaches to best meet the needs of our program.
- Conducts training sessions during the time set up/approved by the athletic director; there are to be no athletic activities allowed on Sundays.
- Establishes discipline that is fair, firm, and consistent in accordance with school policies and is respectful of all student athletes.
- Conducts at least one meeting with players and coaches to discuss weight room policies, guidelines, goals, responsibilities, and disciplinary expectations and consequences.
- Responsible for maintaining all equipment in the weight room facility and submit requests for new equipment, replacement equipment and supplies; only the athletic director is authorized to make purchases related to the weight room.
- Is aware of and keeps emergency first aid equipment with athletes at all times, as well as a mobile device that provides access to student medical information online; reports any possible injuries to the athletic trainer immediately.
- Provides supervision for all athletes until picked up by parents or designated drivers following sessions if a coach is not present.
- Assists individual athletes in their post-high school athletic goals.
Job Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, coaches, parents, and administrative staff.
- Ability to inspire and motivate high school athletes to achieve team and individual goals.
- Ability to work varied hours depending on game schedule and athletic season and to adjust schedule in response to weather and other school issues.
- Ability to be outdoors and work away from a desk on a field for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Completion of Diocesan VIRTUS initial training and all monthly updates throughout employment.
- A belief in God, and an understanding and willingness to model the philosophy and mission of the Benedictine Schools of Richmond.
Minimum Qualifications
- Maintains appropriate strength and conditioning certifications
- Demonstrated skill and experience in the weight training, speed and agility training
- Minimum of 1-year prior coaching experience
- College degree preferred
