Maintenance Manager

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee our maintenance operations and ensure the stability of our environmental controls. In this role, you will lead a skilled maintenance team, ensuring our facilities run efficiently and remain optimized for beneficial insect production. You will be responsible for managing our environmental system; Argus which monitors & controls our equipment to keep ideal humidity, heating/cooling, C02, NH2, etc. in our growth rooms. Additionally, you’ll oversee our maintenance team who ensure our facilities in Redding are running efficiently.
LEADERSHIP:
· Supervise, mentor, and develop the maintenance team to ensure efficient operations.
· Coordinate daily tasks, schedule preventative maintenance, and ensure team compliance with safety protocols.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL MANAGMENT:
· Oversee the functionality and accuracy of environmental control systems, including Argus monitoring, Govee, Sensaphone & more.
· Monitor and optimize humidity, temperature, and air quality for optimal production conditions.
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to environmental controls promptly to avoid disruptions.
MAINTENANCE OPERATION:
· Monitor the business’ performance from a maintenance perspective and redirect maintenance efforts as needed to correct problems
· Manage the repair, replacement, and upgrades of facility systems and equipment.
· Maintain a robust preventative maintenance schedule to minimize downtime.
· Oversee inventory of spare parts and tools required for maintenance tasks.
COMPLIANCE & REPORTING:
· Ensure facilities comply with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
· Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, system inspections, and compliance checks.
· Provide regular updates and recommendations to senior management regarding facility needs and improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience in facilities management, maintenance leadership, or a related role. (2-3 years preferred)
- Strong knowledge of environmental control systems (e.g., Argus) and HVAC systems.
- Experience with sensors, monitoring equipment, and preventative maintenance practices.
- Previous experience in creating/developing preventative maintenance plans via online platforms (emaint, etc)
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to manage teams and collaborate with other departments.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and occasionally fast-paced environment.
- PLC experience; both circuit work & programming.
- Low voltage electrical experience
- Electrical design knowledge & ability to work with a multi-meter.
- Experience dealing with external contractors.
- Certification in facilities management or HVAC systems (preferred but not required).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to move objects up to 50 pounds, and rare lifting of 100 pounds.
· Occasional: ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles. Moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces. Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Operating machinery and/or power tools.
· Environmental Conditions: Occasional exposure to low and high temperatures, and outdoor elements such as rain and wind. Occasional exposure to noise, small ad/or enclosed spaces.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to travel to multiple locations here in Redding, all within 15 mins of each other.
· Able to be on feet for extended periods of time
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Valid Driver’s License
· Vehicle (mileage reimbursement)
· Ability to respond to after hour emergency calls (if needed)
WORK ENVIROMENT. This role is within the agriculture/biotech segment. Expect regular exposure to safe yet possibly disagreeable odors. Anticipate working in environments with varying humidity and temperatures. Potential exposure to allergens while handling arthropods while strictly following safety guidelines. This role will involve working near moving objects, vehicles, heavy machinery, and often near others. Adaptability to varying environmental conditions is essential.
