APP – Neonatal Intensive Care (part time)
Benefis Health System in Great Falls, Montana is looking to add an additional part time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join our inpatient Neonatal Intensive Team of 2 full time physicians and 2 full time nurse practitioners working in our beautiful 24 bed, level III NICU.
Department Information:
  • Part time position - schedule is typically a block schedule, with 12 or 24-hour shifts (in house not required) with physician support.
  • Average daily census of 10 with an average length of stay 14-18 days.
  • Great support staff to provide comprehensive clinical care in a safe environment including MDs, NNPs, RNs, Care Coordinators, Pharmacists, Physical and Speech Therapists, Respiratory Therapists and Dieticians.
  • NICU scope of care and services: invasive and non-invasive respiratory support, use of RAM cannulas, ventilator support, including high frequency oscillations, nitric oxide therapy, NCPAP therapy, surfactant therapy, exchange transfusion, echocardiology, ultrasonography, EEG monitoring, surgery, infant cooling, ophthalmologic consultation, Retcam for ROP, (provided by NNPs) and attending high risk deliveries. We also have a specialized Neonatal Flight Team available for regional transports via helicopter or fixed wing jet.
  • Interdisciplinary / collaborative patient care approach includes: physician rounds, interdisciplinary care rounds, patient care conferences, performance improvement monitoring, multidisciplinary team meetings, and documentation and shared governance
  • Common diagnosis: respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, prematurity – babies from 23 weeks gestation, pneumonia, gastroesophageal reflux
  • Common treatments/procedures: endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation, respiratory / oxygen therapy, umbilical venous / arterial catheterization, surfactant administration, arterial blood sampling, phototherapy. peripherally inserted centralized catheter, intravenous therapy, antibiotic therapy and ABR hearing screening
