Accounting Specialist (Canfield, OH)
Summary Balance and reconcile custodial trust statements and bank statements for funds maintained by assigned Senior Accountants. Position may be required to perform duties under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
Primary Responsibilities
- Complete bank reconciliations for the benefit, administration, and general/depository accounts.
- Clear checks for large benefit accounts to assist senior accountants.
- Balance month end trust (investment) statements detailing the sales and purchases, gains and losses, interest, and dividends, of securities, then prepare journal entries.
- Record the sales, purchases and interest earned for any Certificates of Deposits and or other investment vehicles.
- Enter journal entries for monthly trust statement activity.
- Balance the monthly activity from the provided trust statements to general ledger.
- Assist Senior accountants as needed in special projects.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
Education and/or Experience - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field with at least 1 - 3 years accounting experience. Experience in general ledger, bank reconciliation, trust statement balancing and payroll tax filing.
Language Skills - Ability to understand directions and follow them through to end of task.
Mathematical Skills - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, and volume.
Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed written or verbal instructions. Ability to analyze and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, vendors, regulatory agencies, and financial institutions. Must be able to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Work Schedule
Full time. Monday – Friday, 7:30am - 4:30pm. Requires in-office days but also offers at-home flexibility.

Pay
Salary range for this position is $ 45,000 - $50,000 annually. Salary offered dependent on skills, experience, education, location and other business factors.
