Payroll Field Auditor (Eau Claire, WI)
Summary – The Auditor will schedule and complete onsite audits of contracted employer payroll records to ensure accurate and timely reporting and remittance of required contributions.
The Auditor will cover NW Wisconsin and Eastern Minnesota area; the new Auditor must live in Eau Claire, Wisconsin area to reduce travel times for field audits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to
- Collect and analyze employer payroll data to detect deficiencies, fraud or non-compliance with laws, regulations and contract provisions.
- Prepare detailed reports on audit findings.
- Confer with Fund Counsel and Management regarding financial and regulatory matters.
- Examine records and interview workers to ensure recording of transactions are compliant with contract provisions.
- Review tax records of contracted employer.
- Identify contracted employers subject to audit and notify Fund Collector and Trustees of audit schedules.
- Assist with responding to requests and inquiries during the annual audit of the Funds.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities - None
Qualifications - Strong people skills and the ability to travel is a must. Will travel the NW Wisconsin and Eastern Minnesota area; must live in Eau Claire, Wisconsin area to reduce travel times for field audits.
Education and/or Experience - Post-high school education or related experience is preferred. Computer skills (Microsoft Excel).
Language Skills - Must be able to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.
Mathematical Skills - High aptitude for math, with the ability to analyze and interpret facts and figures quickly. Should be familiar with basic accounting principles.
Reasoning Ability - Must be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Physical Demands - Position requires work at a computer display terminal and desk, including typing on a keyboard. The Auditor will spend a significant amount of time communicating both electronically and via telephone. The Auditor will travel and spend a significant amount of time sitting in a vehicle driving.
Work Schedule - Full-time. Monday – Friday. Permanent Remote position (No in-office days).

Pay
The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $70,000 per year. Actual salary is dependent on skills, experience, education, and other business factors.
