Primary responsibility of this position is for locating, developing, writing, submitting, coordinating, and financial reporting of grants. Tasks are of more than average difficulty and include conferring with agency personnel to establish the scope, objectives, budget, and implementation schedule to process grant proposals in all disciplines to procure external funding. Coordinate the evaluation, application process and acceptance process of local, state and federal public funding grants, foundation funding opportunities and cooperative agreements. Provides professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing, and responding to public and private grant opportunities. Provides grant conformity with laws, stipulations, regulations governing contracts, grant monitoring, program and financial reporting.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital employees and with representatives of other hospital and endowment related agencies; communicate effectively in preparing oral and written reports.
- Ability to work with and meet required deadlines utilizing time management.
- Ability to efficiently organize, prioritize, schedule and manage daily work activities, tasks and assignments.
- Ability to generate written documentation in an accurate, concise, legible and timely manner as required by the position.
- Ability to conduct research and analytical activities; work independently and as a member of a team with internal and external partners; manage and prioritize projects effectively to meet proposal and reporting deadlines.
- Ability to take grant ideas from personnel and translate into format required by grant agencies; read, comprehend, interpret, and apply grant regulations and proposal guidelines; plan, develop and coordinate grant programs.
- Ability to perform grant-related post award functions, including budget and expense analysis; coordinates grant closeout functions as required; including compliance monitoring, programmatic reports, financial status reports, final reimbursement request, purchase order liquidations, and final reporting.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, staff and others.
- Establish a grant file and checklist to ensure compliance with programmatic activities.
- Ensuring Fixed Assets have been identified and inventoried.
- Working knowledge of grants and government funding resources; data sources necessary for developing grant proposals (census bureau, etc.).
- Skill in use of computers and various software including Microsoft Office used to perform daily functions of position.
- Through interviews and other means, gathers information to grasp the concept of a project or program for which funding is sought, as defined by the person responsible for carrying it out.
- Researches and identifies likely funding sources - state and federal grants or private sources - and analyzes them to identify likely funding sources for specific projects and programs.
- Compiles, writes, and edits all grant applications exhibiting strong expository writing skills and a high-level command of proper grammar and spelling.
- Develops individual grant proposals in accordance with each grant-making organization's preferences and accurately follows each grant-making organization's guidelines.
- Prepares financial and progress reports when required by a grant-making organization that has funded a project or program.
- Completes and submits the close-out reports as required by the funding source after the grant is fully implemented.
- Monitors purchase orders related to grant funding.
- Successfully completes all assignments to specifications, within specified timeframe and budget as directed and in accordance with agency policies and regulations.
- Participates in BetterCare Inc. monthly meetings and periodic budget events.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
