Duties
As a Direct Support Professional, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting clients with daily living activities (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Administering medications as prescribed and ensuring proper documentation of medication administration.
- Observing and documenting clients' physical and emotional well-being, reporting any changes to the appropriate personnel.
- Supporting clients in social activities and community engagement to promote socialization and inclusion.
- Providing care for individuals with dementia or memory-related conditions, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Upholding resident rights while encouraging independence and self-determination among clients.
- Implementing individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs.
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment for clients at all times.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:
- Experience in caregiving or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and resident rights.
- Familiarity with dementia care techniques and memory care practices is advantageous.
- Strong observational skills to monitor client behavior and well-being effectively.
- CPR certification is a plus; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients, families, and team members.
- A compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- Sign Language is a plus
