What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Analyst position at Benjamin F Edwards & Co?
Summary:
The Data Analyst interacts with all members of the firm to deliver high quality data and various deliverables to key business areas including (but not limited to) trades, portfolio management, credit research and risk. The data delivered will be used to make investment decisions, evaluate risk, and help understand why. Will work cross-functionally to improve data needs and deliverables, increased efficiencies/controls and build positive relationships.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Identifying, analyzing and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets.
- Helping identify and adhering to data integrity and visualization best practices
- Developing reporting solutions to support many different facets of firm operations.
- Providing analytics and ongoing data support for software implementations/migrations.
- Identifying process improvement opportunities.
- Providing reporting for Firm regulatory priorities.
- Working directly with users to gather requirements, provide status updates and build relationships
Qualifications:
- Beginner to Intermediate SQL skills.
- Beginner to Intermediate experience with Microsoft Power BI and SQL Server Reporting Services.
- Ability to adapt and learn new technologies quickly.
- Strong people skills, including superior communication skills.
- Detail oriented and excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
Education and/or Work Experience:
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in data analytics or management information systems or 6 equivalent work-related experience.
Minimum Experience Required: 2 years of data analytics experience in the Financial Services industry.

Work Environment:
This position requires the ability to work in a stationary position for several hours at a time and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally. Some filing is required. The work environment is an air-conditioned, smoke-free, office environment. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
