Job Description
Benjamin Franklin Charter School is looking for a K-6 ESS Teacher to join our Elementary Team for the 2025-2026 school year.
Responsibilities
- Support BFCS Vision, Mission, and Goals.
- Promote and adhere to BFCS policies and procedures.
- Provide a safe, structured environment focused on academic excellence.
- Create a learning environment that is engaging and conducive to effective instruction; maintain standards of student behavior.
- Provide direct instruction using a Back-to-Basics curriculum including Spalding (reading & writing), Math, Science, and Social Studies.
- Prepare and follow lesson plans correlated with the prescribed curriculum and pacing guides.
- Communicate learning objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language.
- Evaluate the specific needs of students for the purpose of properly aligning instruction.
- Use classroom and state assessment data to inform and improve instruction.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis to discuss students progress and interpret the instructional program.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and legible records as required by law and school policy.
- Reflect on teaching practices; strive to improve professional competence.
- Assume responsibility for meeting classroom and school-wide student performance goals.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings, and parent conferences.
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
- Participate in team reviews concerning students academic progress.
- Maintain a teamwork oriented atmosphere.
- Serve as case manager for students with disabilities.
- Train and supervise resource classroom aide.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality as it pertains to special education.
- Comply with all state and federal special education laws.
- Attend all provided training for special education.
- Maintain appropriate special education certification(s).
- Effectively develop and implement Individual Education Plans.
- Schedule, prepare for, and conduct IEP meetings.
- Work collaboratively with all staff (i.e. teachers, contracted service providers, therapists, admin, etc.)
- Develop and implement strategies for a range of academic and behavioral needs.
- Monitor and assess student progress; provide ongoing feedback to students and parents including collecting and reporting data quarterly on IEP goals.
- Maintain the confidentiality of protected students' information.
- Maintain communication with the Special Education Mentor, Coordinator, and Director as needed.
- Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the school site or District.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or University
- Arizona Teaching Certification
- Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Will be required to pass a criminal background check upon hire
