What are the responsibilities and job description for the After Care Teacher (20-36 month old children) position at Benjamin Thomas Academy?
Benjamin Thomas Academy seeks an After Care Teacher to assist with our Toddler program in a play-based private preschool setting. Our facilities serve infants through Pre-K 3 year olds. The After Care teacher will work with 20-28 month (one and two year old) children. Hours for the position are 3:00 PM-5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Our school is located in Uptown, New Orleans.
Responsibilities
- Lead classroom instruction at the end of the school day.
- Manage diaper changes, feeding, free play, and art or sensory activities for older 1 and 2 year old children.
- Lead classroom instruction during evening hours.
- Stay up-to-date and appraised of school and Department of Education’s licensing protocols
- Demonstrate a warm, nurturing disposition with our students and families.
Qualifications
- Up to date knowledge of child development and play-based education
- Patience, flexibility, and love for children
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to adopt and enforce varying classroom norms and protocols
- Must have at least two years’ experience with children ages birth to four (professional schools, nannying, etc.)
- All candidates are: 18 years of age, able to complete a background check, and demonstrate no evidence of criminal history
- Ability to participate in all physical activities with young children (sitting on the floor, lifting children, changing diapers, etc.)
