The Patient Account Coordinator guides and organizes the patient experience from beginning to end in our practice. The Patient Account Coordinator ensures accurate and timely processing of customer payments, maintains records, and supports the organization's financial health by ensuring revenue is collected efficiently from patients. This role also ensures that all pre-operative procedures and schedules are aligned to facilitate smooth and timely surgeries. The surgery scheduler works closely with surgeons, patients and insurance companies to ensure that everything needed for a surgical procedure is in place.
Summary

This role also ensures that all pre-operative procedures and schedules are aligned to facilitate smooth and timely surgeries.
Responsibilities
o Generate, review, and distribute statements to patients.
o Post and reconcile customer payments in the financial system.
o Handle credit card payments, bank transfers, and other forms of payment.
o Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness.
o Investigate and resolve discrepancies or issues with patient payments.
o Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts.
o Communicate with customers regarding payment reminders or account discrepancies.
o Address customer inquiries related to payments.
o Work collaboratively with other departments to resolve billing issues.
o Prepare AR reports such as aging summaries and payment statuses.
o Assist in month-end closing procedures by providing relevant data.
o Adhere to company policies, accounting standards, and regulations.
o Maintain confidentiality of financial information.
o Coordinate with surgeons, surgical teams, and patients to schedule surgeries based on surgeon availability, patient needs, and operating room times.
o Ensure accurate scheduling by reviewing medical records, surgery types, and any special requirements (e.g., anesthesia or equipment).
o Communicate with patients to confirm surgery dates, times, pre-operative instructions, and any necessary preparations.
o Address patient concerns and provide reassurance or additional information as needed.
o Ensure that patients have completed any necessary pre-surgical evaluations, lab tests, imaging, and paperwork.
o Verify patient insurance information and obtain authorizations or approvals for surgeries when needed.

Qualifications:
· Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A background in healthcare, such as a medical assistant, surgery scheduler, A/R experience, required.
· Experience: Experience in a medical office or hospital setting, with knowledge of medical terminology, scheduling systems, and insurance processes and/or A/R, is required.
· Skills:
o Strong organizational and time management skills to handle Surgery Scheduling and patient needs.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, medical staff, and insurance companies.
o Ability to work under pressure and prioritize your day.
o Proficiency in using scheduling software, electronic health records (EHR), and other healthcare tools.
o Work as a TEAM to ensure patients are taken care of daily.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
