Bennett College currently offers two undergraduate degree programs in education: Elementary Education K-6 (licensure) and Education Studies (non-licensure).
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Bennett College has an opening for full-time education faculty. This is a 9-month non-tenure-track position starting no later than August 2025, with the opportunity to move into a tenure-track position. Courses are taught in minimesters, with three minimesters per traditional semester. The teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester.
Ideal candidates will be prepared to teach a variety of education courses, including literacy, math methods, curriculum development, and foundations of modern education. Candidates should also be prepared to assume full or shared responsibility for placement and supervision of student teachers and interns and for developing and implementing other activities and programs related to education.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Teach face-to-face and hybrid education courses.
- Use innovative teaching methods and technologies to engage students and ensure their success.
- Use Canvas for course delivery and record-keeping; submit grades and attendance reports in a timely manner.
- Advise Elementary Education and Education Studies majors with a focus on preparing them for career entry, internships, and/or graduate school.
- Build and maintain collaborative engagements with K-12 partners.
- Serve as faculty advisor to SNCAE &/or other education-related student organizations.
- Perform administrative duties and record-keeping for education programs.
- Collect data and submit reports to meet requirements for NC DPI and Title II.
- Represent Bennett College at quarterly NCICU meetings for EPP Deans.
- Serve on College committees and participate in shared governance and the general administrative work of the College.
- Attend monthly faculty meetings and College events (such as Baccalaureate, Commencement, Convocations, and Faculty/Staff Institutes).
- Participate in recruitment, professional development workshops, and other programming as assigned by the Dean of Faculty or VP of Academic Affairs.
- Develop a research program and contribute to published literature in the field of education.
- Actively pursue outside funding.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of local and community resources.
- Knowledge of K-12 curriculum.
- Ability to contribute to curriculum planning and the development of goals and objectives for the Elementary Education and Education Studies programs.
- Ability to utilize creative methods in integrated instruction.
- Familiarity with teaching standards, assessment, and evaluation.
- Ability to prepare students to implement a broad array of instructional “best practices.”
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Qualifications
- A doctoral degree in education, curriculum & instruction or closely related field as of start date.
- Valid North Carolina teacher licensure (within the last five years).
- Two or more years of experience teaching Elementary Education courses at the college level OR two or more years of experience as a school administrator.
- Experience in evidence-based instruction in lesson design and assessment.
- A record of effective college teaching.
- Experience teaching within a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
- Experience mentoring undergraduate students.
- Experience teaching in different modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, &/or online).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with edTPA and licensure testing, including Praxis Core and Praxis/Pearson reading/math assessments.
- Leadership and management experience in higher education.
- Experience in teaching elementary reading, mathematics, and science.
- Significant experience in differentiated instruction, executive function support, and other support services aligned with special education practices.
- Experience administering, scoring and utilizing formalized assessment in the creation of student goals and objectives.
- Demonstrated record of research and scholarship in the field of education.
