Collaborating with the team, the Senior Manager is responsible for leading risk and materiality assessments, control design reviews, operating effectiveness testing, reporting and communication both internally and with clients across multiple industries that include, but are not limited to, manufacturing, technology, medical/healthcare, media & entertainment, and more for private and public companies through co-sourcing and fully outsourced approaches. Through collaboration and innovation, you will work closely with your teams, multiple partners, and clients to support and be a trusted advisor regarding their internal audit, controls and compliance functions on situations that may impact the client’s internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) environment. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader, analytical thinker with a passion for developing others, collaborating well with clients, and having had a track record of success in leading high-performing teams and projects.

Key Responsibilities

• In partnership with clients, lead co-sourced/outsourced Internal Audit, Internal Controls Compliance and SOX compliance programs, and function as a central point of contact and subject matter expert to ensure appropriate internal controls (manual and system) over financial reporting are designed, implemented, and operating effectively.
• Lead as project manager, including overseeing the coordination efforts among team members, external auditors, business process owners and IT constituents.
• Drive SOX and/or internal controls scoping and risk assessment by collaborating with the client’s cross-functional teams not limited to accounting, but other business heads and staying connected to evaluate significant changes that may have an impact on the design and/or operating effectiveness of controls.
• Maintain on-going and effective communication with management and external auditors including alignment on controls, scoping, planning, walkthroughs/testing, audit requests, and deficiency evaluation.
• Drive the execution of project status updates for control owners, executive management, and the Audit and/or Risk Committee highlighting overall project progress and key observations.
• Educate business process and internal control owners by leading training sessions on internal controls and compliance requirements.
• Participate actively in training and developmental opportunities, both as an attendee and as a facilitator.
• Manage all aspects of budgeting, billing, including general client administrative inquiries.
• Effectively delegate responsibility providing proper instructions, monitoring, and coaching.
• Contribute to thought leadership development and present at relevant internal and external industry events.
• Communicate effectively with clients and prospects to assess needs and develop clear and accurate project parameters including scoping descriptions, delivery plans, and budgets.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Preferred experience at a public accounting or other professional services firm
• Recent successful experience in cultivating new business and related market-facing activities.
• Advanced written, verbal, and presentation skills, including interaction with members of senior management.
• Ability to travel, if needed
• Knowledge and experience with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and COSO framework requirements.
• Effective communication, critical thinking, and technology skills.
• Experience with financial and operational controls.
• 10 years of SOX, Internal Controls Compliance, and Internal Audit experience in Public Accounting and/or within an Internal Audit function.
• Experience with leveraging data analytics and using automation for testing and monitoring preferred.
• Experience in leading and managing teams.
• Problem solving experience that demonstrate pragmatic and collaborative solutioning.
• Applicable certification (e.g., CPA, CIA) required
• Build and develop new connections as well as leverage your existing network and personal brand to drive growth for the firm.
• Participate in relevant industry and professional associations (such as IIA) and events to develop and/or maintain industry focus and relationships.
• Gain a deep understanding of the suite of Risk Advisory Services offerings and collaborate with service line leaders on growth initiatives.
• Proactively utilize your network, and knowledge about our firm, client/prospect, and industry to deepen existing relationships or form new ones.
• Demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with business developers, marketing, communications, and various other internal firm partners to drive pursuits.
