Bennington College invites applications for a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant to join a dynamic and fast-paced Health Services team.
The Certified Medical Assistant works with the Director of Health Services and psychiatric nurse practitioner to ensure high quality, culturally sensitive, and gender affirming general health care for acute and chronic medical conditions. The CCMA assesses students of their health needs and administers treatment within their scope of practice, and keeps Health Services performing to the national and state standards.
The position is full-time during the academic term (34 weeks/year);(.66 FTE). The position works one week before and one week after each term. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Key Responsibilities

Assess, observe, and speak to a diverse student population inclusive of members of different genders and racial identities.

Records and maintains details of patient medical history and current health, including updating medications and allergies.

Prepares patients for examinations and treatment.

Administers medications and treatments within their scope of practice, and monitors patients for side effects and reactions.

Performs wound care, such as cleaning and bandaging them.

Operates and monitors medical equipment.

Draws blood, urine samples, and other body fluids for lab work.

Educating patients on treatment and care plans, as well as answering their questions.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical setting (primary care, urgent care or similar setting).

CCMA national certification.

CPR and First Aid certification.

Demonstrated ability to work with persons of diverse racial, social-cultural, economic, and national backgrounds in support of student services and student learning.

Knowledge of the developmental and health needs of college students.
- Computer literacy, including Google Suite and electronic medical record system.
The position requires successful completion and acceptable results of a background check.
Working conditions and physical demands
A majority of the work is performed in a clinical office setting, with substantial activities completed while standing, sitting, and walking. Some minor bending/reaching and climbing stairs may be required to perform duties. Work requires the ability to occasionally move up to 50 lbs, and dexterity sufficient to manipulate objects with fingers. Must be able to use touch, sight, and hearing in performing physical assessments. Occasional or routine exposure to infectious diseases and bloodborne pathogens.
