The Materials Manager is responsible for material movement within the facility(s) by coordinating and leading the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. This role will supervise materials personnel to ensure safe, clean, and efficient operation of the material movement within the production facilities. Be a ‘hands-on’ and working leader.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Maintain safe and clean work environment. Train personnel on processes and procedures.
- Strong support and presence during production hours.
- Work with engineering for end of life awareness to minimize obsolete inventory.
- Lead team in managing material movement and transfers for multiple locations.
- Plan the work and monitor performance – determine the techniques to be used and apportion the work among employees to ensure adherence to build standards and stay on schedule to replenish materials.
- Drive and manager WIP inventory & kitting supermarket levels to ensure effective support to production
- Assists with system implementation issues relative to the master scheduling process.
- Develop and implement department goals assuring customer service levels, inventory investment, and capacity utilization are met.
- Plans layout of storage areas, considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.
- Sustain inventory accuracy by ensuring that transactions are initiated timely and accurately.
- Lead department level improvement initiatives and projects, implement and sustain work process standardization.
- Analyze data, investigate issues, identify solutions, and recommend actions to improve KPI targets.
- Support recommending and effectively implementing employee discipline and promotion.
- Determine/control the flow and initiate requisition for materials, supplies, equipment, and tools needed by the team.
- Drive receiving efficiencies, accuracies, and reduce material wait times.
- Manage daily transit of materials between plants for all inventory and non-inventory items.
- Manage truck shipments as required.
- Manage an effective PIT program.
- Drive cycle count process efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Initiate shipping claims as appropriate for damaged or lost parts.
- Analyze and determine all standards for packaging lines and ensure compliance to all schedules for processes and develop and maintain all packing orders effectively.
- Maintain and present materials related to KPI’s .
- Lead the team in continuous improvement opportunities to minimize inventory and supply chain costs through lean initiatives, identifying solutions; efficient/effective solutions to increase productivity and limit errors.
- Contribute to Bennington cultural vision including but not limited to working in a positive fashion with teammates and leadership, taking initiative, and having ownership of work.
