The New Orleans Pelicans G-League team, The Birmingham Squadron is seeking a General Manager to oversee business operations of the team. The role will lead all aspects of the day-to-day operations, including but not limited to financial operations, human resources, sales, marketing, business operations, community and public relations, and arena operations in conjunction with the Executive Leadership team of the New Orleans Pelicans. The position is based in Birmingham, Alabama. Responsibilities: Serve as primary contact with the New Orleans Pelicans Executive team in leading the operations of the team, responsible for the reporting and implementation of the team’s guidelines and best practices Serve as liaison with NBA G League office, manage business and league relationships; responsible for reporting and implementation of league guidelines and best practices Serve as day-to-day contact with arena leadership and city/county/state leadership Coordinate business operations of the G League with Basketball Operations Direct management and accountability for annual business plan and budget Lead the development and execution of sales strategy and planning, as well as business operations planning and execution for the G League franchise across all consumer touch points Lead the development and execution of both a traditional and digital media plan for the team that effectively drives the marketing of the team Serve as team lead for business planning and partner with team ticket sales, partnership marketing, marketing, and Pelicans teams to optimize visibility for the team Ensure events and games are accurately planned and staffed to provide an engaging guest experience and a professional environment for the team Lead the execution of plans designed to improve Team’s image and relations with customers, employees, and public; establish excellent relationships with corporate and other partners, including local government and the community Work with key Pelicans staff to drive engagement of broader staff in G League team operations Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications:The GM will have: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field from an accredited college or university; MBA preferred A minimum of 7-10 years of previous sports-related sales and account management experience preferred Proven leadership success, providing support and guidance to a team of employees Ability to work and collaborate with executive leadership Ability to identify and evaluate strategic opportunities through innovation Ability to use and implement analytics Ability to develop business/brand plans and strategic/ticketing plans Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality Ability to present self in professional manner and have ability to get along with all levels of organization and outside contacts Interpersonal skills – listens to others, works well in a team environment Ability to build a strong and inclusive workforce Excellent communication skills including written and verbal; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely Ability to effectively plan and coordinate, can prioritize work activities; uses time efficiently Adaptability – adapts to change in the work environment, manages challenging demands and is able to handle frequent changes Specific market knowledge a plus Strong computer skills – including all Microsoft Office software programs Ability to work extended hours including nights, weekends, holidays Ability to attend company events, all home games Ability to travel as needed Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
