Lobby Court Server (The Benson Hotel - Downtown Portland)
The historic Benson Portland, A Curio Collection by Hilton is seeking a Server for The Palm Court restaurant and bar. We are looking for someone who is outgoing, friendly, enjoys working in a team atmosphere and can provide excellent customer service.
As a Server, you will work closely with the Palm Court bussers and bartenders and will be a key player in upholding the values of courtesy and service The Benson is famous for.
Essential Functions and Tasks:
- Provide excellent service
- Understand the systems and norms of the Palm Court Restaurant
- Develop a deep understanding of the menus and be ready to assist guests in their dining choices
- Work quickly and efficiently to expedite orders to the kitchen
- Run food from the kitchen to the tables when necessary
- Complete all side work to include filling and stocking salt/pepper shakers, separating linen, wiping counters
- Ensure prompt and courteous service to guests in keeping with the values of The Benson Hotel.
- Maintain communication with the host person or manager
- Keep work area neat and organized.
- Complete all other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Professionally deal with difficult situations/people.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of server/restaurant experience
- Must possess a friendly and open demeanour
- Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time, and on varying surfaces
- Must be able to lift, bend, stretch and reach to:
- Load and push carts and trays
- Carry plates and trays of food and drink
- Efficiently clean surfaces and ready tables for guests when necessary
- Must possess a strong work ethic
- Flexible schedule is required; this position will be mostly mornings and weekends
- Able to provide a valid OLCC Service Permit and Food Handlers Card within 2 weeks of hire
