GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Develop holistic discipleship environments for adults at Bent Tree, with a focus on young adults (18-35) and men.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Considerable understanding of the Bible and the Indwelling Christ theology.
- Possess a high level of initiative and follow-through.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills to diverse audiences (size, demographic, and spiritual maturity).
- Ability to recruit, equip, disciple, coach, and release leaders for ministry.
- Experience in mobilizing servants to meet various needs in the church and surrounding community.
- Possess the ability to use judgment, discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain healthy and motivating relationships with direct reports, supervisors, coworkers, and volunteers.
- Ability to perform sacerdotal duties (weddings, funerals, baptisms, communion).
- Ability to learn and utilize internal database and project management systems.
- Well organized with good time management and project management abilities.
DUTIES
- Develop and oversee ministry and discipleship strategies for young adults (18-35) in and around Bent Tree.
- Develop and oversee ministry and discipleship strategies for adult men in and around Bent Tree.
- Develop, equip, and lead small group leader development.
- Partner with the Adult Ministry team to implement strategies for the ministry leader pipeline for adults at Bent Tree.
- Provide biblical teaching, aligned with Bent Tree’s beliefs and doctrine in a variety of settings, including Bent Tree services.
- Lead strategic mid-level gatherings to help adults take their next discipleship step.
- Continually assess the needs of adults and partner with staff and leaders to develop contextual discipleship strategies.
- Meet with the Adult Ministry Team regularly.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- College Degree required
- Seminary Training Preferred
- Experience in leadership and development of a small group ministry
- Demonstrated ability in equipping and leading adults
- 2 years of ministry leadership experience
REQUIREMENTS FOR PASTORS
- Be in wholehearted agreement with Bent Tree’s Statement of Faith.
- Perform sacerdotal functions as needed: communion, funerals, weddings, baptisms, etc.
- Perform duties revolving around ongoing shepherding and pastoral care: pastoral counseling, hospital visits, conflict resolution, marriage counseling, marriage prep sessions, benevolence counseling, etc., as needed.
- Model Staff Values by operating In Humility (Philippians 2:3-8), On Mission (Matthew 28:18-20), and With Each Other (Hebrews 10:19-25).
- Bent Tree Bible Fellowship member or willing to become one as a condition of employment.
- Active, growing relationship with Jesus Christ
- Be licensed or ordained by Bent Tree
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Work with: Adult Ministry Team, Bent Tree Staff, Servant Leaders
- Report to: Pastor of Adult Ministries
- Lead: Adult Ministry Lead Teams
