Core Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction for the receiving, bar yard, scrap yard, rail movements, dispatch yard, shipping and scrap operations.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead and mentor team members, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and protocols through effective training programs.
- Oversee the planning and coordination of inventory and logistics to optimize efficiency.
- Facilitate collaboration with operations, planning, sales, quality, and maintenance teams to address issues and improve processes.
- Supervise the monitoring and management of material and product movements, including rail and yard logistics.
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions and inventory movements.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with external service providers and logistics partners.
- Oversee regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Implement corrective actions and improvements based on audit findings.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Stay updated with industry best practices and incorporate them into operations.
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of reports on key metrics such as inventory levels, on-time delivery, and operational performance.
Job Requirements:
- BA/BS in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related course of study preferred or an equivalent combination of college and/or work experience.
- 10 or more years of professional experience in a manufacturing and management role.
- Knowledge of SAP ERP Production Planning Module.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of logistics and subcontracting work.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, within the logistics team and cross functional groups.
- Ability to coordinate production activities and goals with other departments.
- Detail oriented with proven analytical, problem identification and resolution skills.
- Ability to work in a Team orientated atmosphere.
