Assistant Coach, Swimming

Job Description Summary The less than half-time assistant coach for Swimming and Diving is responsible for assisting the Director, Aquatics/Head Swim Coach in implementing and directing all phases of a competitive NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving program at Bentley University. Essential Duties Assists with the preparation and implementation of weekly practice and conditioning sessions; monitoring student's adherence to department, conference, and NCAA guidelines, resolving issues and reporting infractions. Identifies and recruit student athletes who are qualified to compete academically and athletically at the Division ll level by analyzing and evaluating the skill level of potential recruits; analyzing and evaluating the academic potential of new recruits; assessing the needs of the program and the available options to fulfill individual personal needs. Adhere to all conference and NCAA rules/requirements relevant to the conduct of the intercollegiate program. Other Duties Assist with other administrative or coaching duties as requested by the Head Coach. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree 2 years coaching experience and/or participation in the sport itself at the varsity level. Demonstrated knowledge of innovative and proven coaching strategies and techniques. Demonstrated leadership abilities, with a commitment to developing and maintaining a positive and productive playing environment for all team members. Proven ability to provide mentoring and leadership to student-athletes and a commitment to student-athlete welfare. Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to NCAA rules/ requirements relevant to the conduct of an intercollegiate program. Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to work and/or travel a flexible schedule to include evening, weekend, or limited overnight assignments. Must hold and maintain a valid, unrestricted United States driver’s license, with an insurable driving history as determined by Bentley’s insurance carrier. Work Environment The work environment includes standard office time, but more often time is spent in the pool at practices or meets. Some morning practice times 6-8AM Regular practice hours are Monday-Friday 2:20-4:40PM Competitions are generally on Friday and Saturday Season Runs from September through mid March Physical Demands Physical skill and effort are very important for this position. Every practice involves physical effort whether it be demonstrating a skill or conditioning. Bentley University requires references checks and may conduct other pre-employment screening.
