Location:
- Chicago Food Factory - 2136 S. Peoria St. Chicago, Illinois, 60608 | Note: this location operates 7 days a week.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager will oversee the maintenance and engineering functions within a dynamic food manufacturing facility. This role is crucial for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all machinery and equipment, as well as driving process improvements and innovation to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
Maintenance & Equipment Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of all manufacturing equipment and facilities.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety regulations and food safety standards.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
- Utilize data-driven approaches and lean manufacturing principles to optimize production processes.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and standards.
Leadership & Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of technicians and maintenance staff (as the team grows).
- Develop and implement engineering and maintenance strategies aligned with company goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and innovation.
Project Management:
- Oversee engineering projects related to equipment upgrades, process enhancements, and new installations.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project integration.
Innovation & Technology:
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
- Drive the adoption of new technologies to improve manufacturing processes and product development.
- Lead initiatives to develop new products and improve existing ones.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in engineering and maintenance, preferably within the food manufacturing industry.
- Strong project management skills with experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven track record of driving process improvements and innovation.
- Knowledge of food safety standards.
- Understanding of chilled food environments and related maintenance considerations.
