Job Title: Substitute Bus Driver
The Benton Community School District is seeking qualified substitute bus drivers to transport students safely and efficiently across 18 regular bus routes in our large rural school district.
To be eligible, you must hold an Iowa School Bus Driver License (CDL) with a clean driving record, complete random drug and alcohol testing, and comply with all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
Responsibilities:
- Provide transportation according to district policy and procedure as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Obey all traffic laws and mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Ensure students board and exit the bus in an orderly fashion.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in good working condition.
- Participate in all training related to the job.
- Report accidents immediately to the Transportation Director or designee.
- Fuel the bus and maintain accurate records.
- Keep the bus clean inside and out.
- Maintain a positive rapport with students, staff, parents, and community members.
Requirements:
- Hold an Iowa School Bus Driver License (CDL).
- Have a good driving record.
- Comply with random drug and alcohol testing.
- Knowledge of emergency equipment on a school bus.
- Three to five years of previous school bus driving experience (preferred).
