The Benton Community School District is seeking a qualified Substitute Bus Driver to transport students safely and efficiently across 18 regular bus routes in our rural school district.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide reliable transportation according to district policy and procedure, as well as local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Ensure all traffic laws and mandatory safety regulations for school buses are strictly adhered to.
- Maintain a safe and orderly boarding and exiting process for students.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to guarantee the bus is in good working condition.
- Participate in relevant training sessions to enhance job performance.
- Report any accidents immediately to the Transportation Director or designated representative.
- Manage fuel consumption and maintain accurate records.
- Maintain a clean and organized bus interior and exterior.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members.
Requirements:
- Hold an active Iowa School Bus Driver License (CDL).
- Have a spotless driving record.
- Comply with random drug and alcohol testing.
- Possess knowledge of emergency equipment on a school bus.
- Prior experience as a school bus driver, preferably with three to five years of service, is highly valued.
