SUMMARY
The APAC Youth Care Worker Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and operational performance of all Youth Care Workers and youth in the APAC residential facility. Functions as the liaison with other team members (JPO, parent/guardian, teacher, stakeholders, attorney, DHS-PRLU staff, JDC staff, and CSI or any other counseling center staff, etc.). Responsible for initiating job-shadow training with new APAC staff. This position is responsible for ensuring all members of the Youth Care Team are trained and competent in the role of a Youth Care Worker. Role models appropriate professional behavior at all times. Seeks supervision as needed from Administrator. The Supervisor ensures professional youth care and services are provided through The Trauma-Informed Care Approach. Reports to the APAC Administrator or Social Services Director.

All services shall be provided in accordance with the DHS PRLU Minimum Residential Licensing Standards, the Arkansas Department of Health Standards (including for COVID19), Benton County requirements, and the Center for Disease Control requirements. Ensures APAC Policy and Procedures and Operation Manuals are followed at all times. Reports potential issues/problem-solving ideas to the Administrator for quality improvement purposes. Monitors and updates DHR-PRLU logs per their Standards. Monitors staff for professional and ethical behaviors and provides coaching, feedback, and discipline when necessary. Functions as first line contact to all stakeholders to ensure a high-quality program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures the supervision of APAC Youth Care Workers. Provides documentation of supervision by maintaining a supervisory log for all staff supervised.

Trains and monitors Youth Care Workers for documentation in RT or the Communication Log.

Ensures that appropriate shelter care and line of sight supervision of youth by the Youth Care Worker is provided appropriately at all times.

Supports the Youth Care Worker through formal or informal supervision and provides staff
with timely ongoing feedback.

Communicates frequently with the Administrator, Social Services Director, and Probation Officer, or Case Manager regarding pertinent information about residents.

Assists during transition from class-time and plans free/break time free activities. Assists the teacher when requested.
Supervises planned outings for APAC youth.

Participates in ongoing meetings, conferences, training programs as required.

Assists Administrator to monitors Relias yearly CEUs as required by DHS PRLU Standard.

Can coordinate and direct community meetings as needed and understands group dynamics.

Promotes and maintains a positive peer group and Youth Care Worker culture.

Provides security monitoring and alerts Administrator of potential issues.

Ability to operate surveillance camera systems for review of other shifts and AWOLS.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.

3 years of relevant management experience or shelter experience.

Must demonstrate experience training and leading others and adapting to
diverse situations.

Minimum age of 21 years or older.

Must have the ability to resolve unforeseen problems with little or no direction
from the Administrator.

Excellent presentation skills as well as oral and written communication skills.

Proficiency with computers, common office equipment, and MS Office products.

Bilingual in Spanish (suggested) & English (Read, Write, Speak).

Clean criminal background check.

Clean child abuse and neglect or child protective services check

Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, and be organized.

Able to assist with weather/disaster and fire drills as necessary.

Ability to remain calm and composed under stress.

Must be able to perform Handle with Care procedures, CPR and Emergency First Aid.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates degree with 1-2 years of supervisory experience.

A minimum of 2 years’ experience in youth care or residential care for
adolescents.

1 year Operations experience. Administrator may waive at discretion.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Performs duties in a safe manner.
Follows all Benton County Policies and Procedures and DHS PRLU Minimum Residential Licensing Standards.
Participates and supports safety meetings, training and goals.
Ensures the safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.
Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

Physical Demands

While performing the physical duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, handle or feel objects. The employee must occasionally lift (50-100 pounds) walk, stand, sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl with hands or knees. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust or focus.

Able to interact with youth during sport activities, volunteer opportunities, etc.
Must be able to supervise clients indoors and outdoors throughout the entire duration of their shift period, which lasts 8 hours or more on a typical shift.
Must be prepared and physically able to respond with appropriate protocol in a variety of dynamic supervision situations with clients of 12-17 years in age.
In a sudden or emergency event, staff must display appropriate decision-making skills.
Able to communicate verbally and listen for constant surveillance of staff activities.
