Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience: One year of facilities maintenance or related experience OR any combination of education and experience which would provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.

Other Requirements: Valid Washington State driver’s license if driving a vehicle for County business.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position provides building and grounds maintenance to ensure a clean and safe environment for workers and the public.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following duties are essential for this position. However, they are not to be construed as exclusive or all–inclusive. To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other duties may also be required or assigned.
- Performs general repairs for assigned facilities.
- Performs repairs to doors, door closers and locks; installs locks.
- Performs maintenance and repair including painting, general carpentry, flooring, renovations, moving furniture, drywall, and roof repair, light fixture and electrical repair, plumbing fixture repair, installation of flooring materials.
- Cuts facility keys for County staff.
- Converts fluorescent lighting to LED lighting.
- Performs carpet removal and replacement.
- Assists with meeting room and special event set up.
- Ensures all work is done according to standard practices, design specifications, and County and local building codes.
- Repairs electrical fixtures; replaces/updates fixtures and lighting.
- Performs grounds maintenance, lawn care, and pesticide application; ensures grounds are cleaned up prior to the winter season.
- Ensures proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Maintains appropriate records including complete equipment repair history, work orders, daily job card, and other related data.
- Ensures all activities are carried out in a safe manner; adheres to all County safety regulations; ensures all regulations pertaining to the safe use of equipment are understood and followed.
- Reports all accidents to the appropriate authority. Follows all policies for reporting.
- Provides backup assistance to other department personnel as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
- Various maintenance equipment and tools consistent for this position.
- Safe operation and maintenance of tools, equipment, and facility systems.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) purpose, use, and maintenance.
- Operation, care, and repair of maintenance equipment and tools.
- Occupational hazards (OSHA/WISHA) and safe work practices.
- Policies and procedures of the County.
- Computer software consistent for this position.
Skill in:
- Organizational and time management to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work product while adapting to constant changes in priority.
Ability to:
- Establish and maintain accurate records of assigned activities and operations.
- Understand and effectively carry out verbal and written instructions.
- Perform detailed work accurately and independently in compliance with stringent time limits with minimal direction and supervision.
- Communicate clearly, concisely and effectively in English in both written and verbal form.
- Interpret and implement local policies and procedures; written instructions, general correspondence; Federal, State, and local regulations.
- Work the allocated hours of the position and responds after hours if needed.
