Provide administrative and clerical support to the Department regarding service activities.Position ObjectiveTo provide detailed technical and office support related to DMV activities, including maintaining a high attention to detail when handling cash, check, and credit card transactions. The ideal candidate will be able to multi-task between the DMV and assisting the Auditor-Treasurer’s office. Tasks will include all DMV transactions, assisting with property tax processing, election prep, scanning of documents, and other duties as assigned. Candidates with direct DMV experience are encouraged to apply. The chosen candidate must complete a BCA background check and fingerprinting. As well as obtain all certifications and licensures, including title certification. Advanced placement on the Benton County pay scale is available to candidates with previous Licensing/DMV/DNR/DL experience. The successful applicant’s experience will be evaluated with pay scale placement occurring at the discretion of the Auditor-Treasurer.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ADDENDUM - OFFICE TECHNICIAN - LICENSING A. Process and issue DMV and DNR Transactions. A.1. To include permits, licenses, tab renewals, lien releases, and registrations.B. Perform reconciliation of DMV and DNR monies and calculate portions for County deposits. B.1. Process payments of appropriate daily fees to State and County deposits.C. Prepare various daily and monthly DMV and DNR reports.D. Prepares license center reports for the state Department of Motor Vehicles.E. Fulfill all licensing transactions following federal, state, and county policies using the appropriate fee schedule.F. Serve as backup or assist the A/T department with election duties or activities. F.1. Prepare and print state DMV and Driver’s License reports and process daily deposits for state monies.QualificationsMinimum QualificationsA. Must successfully complete a BCA background check and fingerprinting.B. Obtain and maintain certifications and licensures. B.1. Ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. B.1.1. Title Certification.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesA. Ability to make the correct change during cash transactions.B. Ability to maintain attention to detail at a high level when handling cash, checks, and credit card transactions.OFFICE TECHNICIAN - GLOBAL (ALL ADDENDUMS)Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential FunctionsA. Perform data entry into various department systems.B. Provide customer service, in-person, by phone, and by e-mail. B.1. Answer phone; provide information and assistance. B.2. Assist in-person contacts. B.3. Prepare and mail reports.C. Assist in the preparation of bank deposits and deliver deposits to the bank.D. Manage, scan, and image office records.E. Collect various money and receipt payments.F. Balance cash drawer.Additional FunctionsA. Attends trainings as needed.B. Telephone Back-up Department.C. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesA. Knowledge and skill in clerical functions, Microsoft Office Suite, and computer database operation.B. Ability to provide optimal customer service skills.C. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral forms.D. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and have strong positive public relations skills.E. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.F. Ability to handle a variety of typical assignments and problems under moderate supervision within standard operating procedures.G. Ability to use considerable analytical ability to select, evaluate, and interpret data from several sources; interpretation of guidelines, policies, and procedures is required.H. Effective communication with department and other departments, outside agencies, and the public on specialized matters requiring detailed or technical responses/explanations.I. Ability to travel within your daily work assignment.J. Ability to travel within Minnesota, including overnight stays.K. Ability to work extended, evening, and weekend hours as needed.L. Must comply with organizational and departmental policies.M. Performs physical/mental demands of the work environment requirements for this position.N. Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours, and outside regular hours as necessary.O. Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers.P. Must comply with data practices policies and standards relative to private data. Any access to private data should be strictly limited to accessing the data that is necessary to fulfill the employment responsibility. While data is being accessed, employee should take reasonable measures to ensure the private data is not accessed by individuals without a work reason. Once the work reason to access the data is finished the private data must be properly stored according to county policies and the Minnesota Statutes.Physical Demands & Working ConditionsA. Work is performed in an office setting.B. Headaches, eyestrain, and other related occupational hazards reflect the most common potential for injury.C. Work is light duty and sedentary with the ability to lift, carry, or push up to 10 pounds.D. This position is exposed to some mental effort and stress.E. This position frequently performs work under moderate attention to detail and deadlines. F. This position is exposed to the public that is and may become angry.Hours of WorkA. Monday - Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.Equipment UtilizedA.
