EXCITING JOB OPPORTUNITY!JOIN OUR HUMAN SERVICES MANAGEMENT TEAM!Benton County is now accepting applications to fill a Social Services Supervisor - CP/Intake/Assessments position in our Social Services Child Protection/Intake/Assessments Unit for our Human Services Department. This Is a Full-Time (Non-Union) Position. PLEASE NOTE: The application review process for this position will start once the posting has officially closed on Monday, May 5th, 2025, at 4:30 PM. The desired 2025 hiring wage range is $40.15 - $43.13 per hour, depending on preferred qualification experience, with a career potential of $55.07 per hour. NOTE: A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field, and four years of relevant work experience are required.Preferred Qualification: 2 years' experience as a supervisor and/or in a leadership role.Therefore, if you are offered an interview, you will be requested to provide an unofficial copy of your College Transcript for the hiring panel to review at the time of the interview. You also have the option to attach a copy of your Unofficial College Transcript to your application before submitting it. This is helpful during the application review process.Upon hire, Benton County would still require an Official Sealed College Transcript to be provided to the Human Resource Department for review.Position SummaryCoordinates, oversees, and administers the delivery of social services to the assigned unit.Scope of ResponsibilityResponsible for providing supervision of professional and support staff. Consults with workers on critical decisions that affect health and safety or have significant financial implications. Develops services and policies, submits accurate and timely reports, and administers grant proposals/budgets.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential FunctionsA. Provides direct supervision of unit staff. A.1. Assigns work and organizes unit caseload. A.2. Evaluate performance and prepare performance improvement plans. A.3. Consults on disciplinary issues. A.4. Participates in employee recruitment, hiring, training, and retention activities. A.5. Ensures compliance with the County Personnel Policies, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and federal, state, and local regulations.B. Prepares, maintains, monitors, and audits compliance with provider contracts.C. Manages the development, monitoring, and implementation of the unit budget.D. Develops unit policies and procedures and assists with the development of department policies and procedures.E. Responds to client concerns and complaints and manages resolution.F. Develops grant applications and monitors grant programs.G. Maintains records and files and prepares reports.Additional FunctionsA. Attend trainings as needed.B. Serves as Benton County representative on various committees, associations, interagency collaboratives, and liaison to community groups.C. Serves as a member of the Human Services Management Team.D. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.ADDENDUM – Social Services Supervisor - Child Protection/Intake/AssessmentsResponsible for providing supervision of professional and support staff of the Child Protection/Child Welfare/Intake/Assessments unit.A. Manages the Child Protection Screening Teams and makes final screening decisions.B. Manages and supports Child Protection Investigators and Family Assessment workers in determining investigative and assessment procedures.C. Assists staff in making out-of-home placement decisions in collaboration with county attorneys and law enforcement.D. Manages a team of Case Managers providing case supervision regarding safety, case planning, court recommendations, and placement/permanency decisions.E. Manages the Parent Support Outreach Program.F. Manages the Adoption Program, providing supervision and guidance in making adoption decisions and signing legal adoption documents.G. Ensures adherence to DHS requirements, audits, and PIPs.H. Attends required community meetings for the Stearns Benton Child Protection team and Child Advocacy Center Administrative team.I. Participates in the Emergency Preparedness Team- Congregate Care, attending training and exercises.ADDENDUM – Social Services Supervisor - Adult and Child Mental HealthResponsible for providing supervision of professional and support staff of the Adult and Child Mental Health unit, including truancy, minor parent assessments, civil commitment screenings, and placement for corrections.A. Provides supervision to the Mental Health unit.B. Program areas include Adult Mental Health, Children’s Mental Health, Homeless Outreach, Truancy, and CAMHI Coordinator.C. Manages Civil Commitment Screening Teams and makes final screening decisions.D. Manages the Mental Health Placement Screening Teams and makes final screening decisions.E. Attends required community meetings for Community Adult Mental Health Initiative, Local Advisory Council, and Children’s Mental Health Collaborative.F. Participates in Emergency Preparedness Team - Congregate Care, attending training and exercises.Preferred QualificationsA. Mental Health Professional License.ADDENDUM – Social Services Supervisor - Home and Community-Based Services/LicensingResponsible for providing supervision of professional and support staff of the HCBS/Licensing unit, including Waivered Services Programs, Rule 185 Case Management, licensing of family day care, and adult and child foster care.A. Provides supervision to the HCBS/Licensing Unit.B. Develops community-based service providers and executes agreements.C. Prepares, maintains, monitors and audits compliance with provider contracts.D. Provides oversight in the Guardianship consultation team to ensure appropriate decisions are made.E. Manages the Waiver Review Team to ensure funds are used in a fiscally responsible manner.F. Participates in the Emergency Preparedness Team- Congregate Care, attending training and exercises.ADDENDUM – Social Services Supervisor - MnCHOICES/Adult ProtectionResponsible for providing supervision of professional and support staff of the MnCHOICES/Adult Protection unit, including MnCHOICES assessments, adult protection, and intake.A. Provides supervision to the MnCHOICES/Adult Protection Unit.B. Develops community-based service providers and executes agreements.C. Prepares, maintains, monitors and audits compliance with provider contracts.D. Reviews, screens, and consults on Adult Protection reports.E. Provides oversight of guardianships for adult protection.F. Participates in the Emergency Preparedness Team-Congregate Care, attending training and exercises.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesA. Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices of social work and social work supervision.B. Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations relating to human services programs.C. Familiarity with Benton County community agencies and resources.D. Knowledge of program administration, personnel administration, management techniques, and organizational development.E. The ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, and have strong positive public relations skills.F. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.G. Ability to apply professional/managerial principles and judgment within overall goals established by senior management.H. Ability to perform varied work involving many complex and significant variables, requiring analytical ability and inductive thinking in adapting policies, procedures, and methods to fit unusual and complex situations.I. Ability to travel within your daily work assignment.K. Ability to work extended, evening, and weekend hours as needed.L. Ability to travel within Minnesota, including extended overnight stays.M. Attendance during regularly scheduled work hours, and outside regular hours, as necessary.P. Effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers.Q. Must comply with data practices policies and standards relative to private data. Any access to private data should be strictly limited to accessing the data that is necessary to fulfill the employment responsibility. While data is being accessed, employee should take reasonable measures to ensure the private data is not accessed by individuals without a work reason. Once the work reason to access the data is finished the private data must be properly stored according to county policies and the Minnesota Statutes.Physical Demands & Working ConditionsA. Work is performed in the office and the community. Options for telework (when not required to be in the office or the community) may be permitted at the discretion of the Department Head.B. Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds).C. Headaches, eyestrain, carpal tunnel syndrome, and related occupational hazards associated with computer work reflect the most common potential for injury.D. May encounter verbal abuse and threats from hostile and frustrated clients.E. This position is generally light-duty and may require the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force on occasion and the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move objects.F. This position is frequently exposed to mental effort, mental health, and stress.G. This position continuously works under high attention to detail.Hours of WorkA. Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.B. On-call 24 hrs./ 7 days a week for consultation and staff support.C. Required to respond in person when statutorily appropriate.Equipment UtilizedA.
