FDS-CASE WORKER II

FULL-TIME 37.5 HOURS PER WEEK

BI-LINGUAL (ENGLISH/SPANISH) PREFERRED.

VALID DRIVERS LICENSE, INSURANCE, ARE REQUIRED.

EMPLOYEE MUST PASS A WA STATE BACKGROUND CHECK.

DUTIES:

The Family Development Specialist (FDS) Case Worker has the primary responsibility for the implementation of program activities within an assigned program. Case Management, intake and assessment services; serves as a liaison between individuals/families with other social service programs or agencies matching client needs with available resources. Maintains case management database and files regarding program and service statistics; generates required reports.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The FDS Case Worker works under the general supervision of the Department Director / Manager or assigned Program Coordinator. The employee possesses considerable knowledge of methods and procedures and work is subject to a reasonably close check on quality and quantity. The Department Director/Manager may assign alternate supervisor.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or
  • Two years’ intake and/or case management experience, and
  • Two years’ college course working in a social science field of study in related field, or
  • An equivalent combination of related education and work experience, and
  • A minimum of two-year case management/instructor experience or computer science.
  • A minimum of one-year experience using computers and data processing software.
  • Other formal education requirements may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge:

  • Reasonable knowledge of regulations governing the programs assigned.
  • Considerable knowledge of community resources and civic organizations.
  • Considerable knowledge of interviewing and assessment techniques and methods.
  • Considerable knowledge of efficient office procedures and record keeping.
  • Knowledge of basic record keeping

Skills and Abilities:

  • Skills in the operation of standard office equipment and computers, including word and data processing.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear and understandable manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to learn, interpret and implement legal requirements.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Ability to deal with the public.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to empathize.

Desirable interaction and communication skills:

  • Employee must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
  • The employee shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with peers and supervisors.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, see, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, or use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, standard keyboards and office equipment or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, night vision, and the ability to focus from near to far and far to near objects. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

FAIR LABOR STANDARD CLASSIFICATION:

The FLSA of 1938, as amended, covers overtime pay requirements among other issues. This classification relates to eligibility for overtime payments. This is a non-exempt position.

SALARY/HOURS: Range 6 (Non-Exempt)

$2,943.30 - $4,297.20 Salaried
