What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Assistant I position at Benton Franklin Head Start?
The Finance Assistant I shall be responsible to assist the finance department; perform data entry and filing; prepare financial reports as directed; promote an atmosphere conducive to effective operations and safety; and ensure services are made available in a courteous and professional manner.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Performs payroll functions to include print/distribute timecards, entry and review of payroll, prepare checks for signature/distribution, and filing.
- Performs accounts payable functions to include mailing, entering, checking report, prepare A/P for signature/distribution, and filing.
- Performs account receivable functions to include receipt of checks, deposits to bank, and filing.
- Processes purchase orders to include entering/printing and prepare for signature/distribution.
- Performs inventory control for the Finance Department.
- Open and sort department mail.
- Prepares reports as directed.
- Participates in professional development and opportunities for growth.
- Demonstrates an on-going professional relationship with supervisors and co-workers.
- Responsible for documentation of in-kind contributions.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; and
- One-year work experience in a similar position.
- Extensive skill and knowledge in PC computers, accounting software, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases, including Microsoft Office programs.
- Good oral communications and human relations skills.
- The ability to read, write, and understand English is essential.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Possess a valid driver’s license, provide proof of current liability automobile insurance, maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record (insurable by the Agency’s insurance carrier), and ability to provide own transportation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.43 - $24.29 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
