JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Academic Interventionist
LOCATION: Lake Michigan Catholic Elementary
SUPERVISOR: Building Principal
STATUS: Part Time (18 hours per week)
FUNDING SOURCE: Title I(a)
JOB SUMMARY: The Interventionist is responsible for supporting students through the use of targeted interventions based on identified student needs, particularly in the areas of Reading and Math. The Interventionist will use best practice methods to develop individualized instruction in collaboration with classroom teachers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (required) with Math and/or Reading Endorsement (preferred)
- Knowledge of Common Core State Standards
- Organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop intervention schedule based on student achievement data
- Utilize data to guide the planning of overall student intervention
- Implement small group literacy instruction based on identified needs
- Monitor student achievement progress
- Assist in promoting good student attendance and supervision
- Maintain student records
- Attend staff meetings and professional development activities
- Complete and submit weekly Personnel Activity Reports (PARs)
- Perform other duties as assigned as related to and allowed by legislation respective to the funding source
- Work with classroom teachers on best practices for literacy instruction
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously and to work harmoniously with other employees.
- Ability to work with students with many different learning styles.
- Be proficient in the use of technology.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
