JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Middle School Girls Basketball Coach (Hired through EduStaff)
LOCATION: Fair Plain Middle School
SUPERVISOR: Athletic Director
JOB SUMMARY:
The Middle School Basketball Coach leads the program for the Middle School team under the direction of the Athletic Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of two (2) years of successful experience in coaching basketball is preferred.
- Ability to organize and supervise the total sports program.
- Must have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of basketball and at the same time continue to examine new theories and procedures that are pertinent.
- Proven ability to meet the challenges of an urban school district.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend and supervise all practices and games.
- Recommendations to Athletic Director.
- Train and plan with coaches at all levels so all coaches will be prepared to teach similar drills, techniques, and philosophies.
- Abide by the policies of the Board of Education and the Michigan High School Athletic Association.
- Confirm that each student-athlete is eligible regarding age, physical exam, school enrollment, current semester GPA, and attendance.
- Ensure that each student-athlete has had a proper annual physical examination and a copy is on file in the Athletic Office.
- Ensure that the athletic trainer and/or physician have cleared injured athletes before the athlete returns to practice or an athletic event.
- Provide the Athletic Office with a complete list of participants for each athletic event and inform those students who are deemed ineligible.
- Post and provide a list of training rules and consequences for infractions to each student.
- Assume responsibility for the issuance, control, and return of athletic equipment. Work with the equipment manager to make sure that procedures are followed and a final inventory is made.
- Perform other duties that may be assigned by the Varsity Basketball Coach and/or Athletic
FUNDING SOURCE:
If this position is funded using Title dollars, federal regulations do not allow a promise of employment beyond the current year of allocated funds. If this position is funded using state program dollars, the district is not obligated to fund the position beyond the current year's allocation. This position, at any time, may be dissolved based on funding availability and data collected from a comprehensive needs assessment.
Evaluation:
The performance of this job will be evaluated by the Athletic Director.
