Job Summary:
The Aerial Construction Lineman must have knowledge and experience with aerial line work in telecommunication construction. The Lineman is responsible for both overhead and underground cables and wires, and will install, maintain, and repair fiber optic communication lines and systems.
Responsibilities:
- Installing underground lines, installing meters, climbing poles to repair overhead lines, or inspecting fiber optic lines for possible repair or replacement.
- Ability to install and repair fiber and copper lines working on bucket trucks and or ladders at commercial and or residential addresses.
- Perform duties according to industry standards.
- Effectively be able to read area maps.
- Effectively and accurately record daily production on job site maps.
- Acquire necessary materials and inventory from warehouse.
Qualifications: All positions require participation in the federally compliant FMSCA drug and alcohol testing program. This includes both pre-employment and ongoing random testing.
- Must be experienced in all aspects of overhead aerial fiber construction.
- Fiber optic experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license, Class A preferred.
- CDL License, or ability to obtain one in timely manner a plus.
- Ability to take direction and instruction from supervisors.
- Good team attitude and ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Effectively communicate with management and team members
- Ability to communicate clearly using radios, verbal, and hand signals.
- Ability to lift and operate necessary materials, tools, and equipment.
- Must be able to lift and carry materials of all shapes and sizes, weighing 40 to 90 pounds.
- Ability and willing to work in an outdoor environment during all times of the year and in inclement weather conditions.
- Must be able to ascend and descend ladders.
- Must be able to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and any applicable safety gear.
- Able to safely operate aerial equipment, including bucket truck digger derrick and trailer.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl while performing work
- Able to work and climb aloft at heights up to 35’.
- Identifies unsafe conditions and takes appropriate action.
