Job Summary:

The Construction Manager will provide team leadership and direct oversight of construction employees and activity in their respective assigned geographic areas. The Construction Manager will ensure that local staff on their team collectively achieve all construction goals for company initiatives and activities that support daily orders or local commitments. This position reports to the Mainline Project Manager and as such must provide feedback to the leadership team on performance against objectives.


Responsibilities:

  • Supervises all mainline department staff, Project Coordinator, Mainline Foreman and Mainline Operators and Trainees through annual reviews, training, safety, and discipline.
  • Manages the construction staff schedules and workflow.
  • Prepares project scopes to complete areas on schedule & coordinates with contractors and vendors.
  • Permit coordination & compliance including activation, inspection scheduling, certification, and closeout.
  • Traffic Control Plan approvals and coordination.
  • Document redlined as-built information on construction plans. Participate in weekly planning meetings with District staff to review current projects, upcoming projects, schedules, and resources.
  • Organize and prioritize work activities while utilizing efficient time management skills in meeting deadlines and staying on schedule.
  • Maintain positive relations with the public, jurisdictional agencies, general construction services contractors and District staff.
  • Perform under the responsible charge of the Project Manager.
  • Monitor and provide direction to Aerial crews to achieve production goals.
  • Enforce the company’s safety program so that the company safety objectives are achieved.


Qualifications:
All positions require participation in the federally compliant FMSCA drug and alcohol testing program. This includes both pre-employment and ongoing random testing.

  • BA/BS in Telecommunications, Operations Management, or Business Administration preferred or applicable OSP Construction work experience.
  • 5 years of prior supervisory experience
  • Experience in permitting and dealing with municipalities
  • Must be able to interact with internal/external customers and various community leaders to establish relationships and assist with problem resolution
  • Must possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills along with a strong work ethic, and the ability to work well under pressure and/or with deadlines
  • Must possess basic PC skills: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. ·
  • Experience in all aspects of underground telecom construction
  • Advanced knowledge of outside plant construction functions (Line & Splice) for both copper and fiber and in all placement scenarios (Aerial, buried, underground).
  • Hand on directional boring experience, a plus
  • Must possess a basic understanding of electronics, electrical circuitry, network installation, maintenance, and testing of central offices as well as FTTH and data networking
  • Must be available 24/7 to support off-shift technicians and emergencies as needed.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather.
  • Must be able to transition to other projects in other states.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license
