Academic Coach - Math / Science K-4 (197 days)
Position Purpose : Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of Elementary Education and the school principal, to work collaboratively with building / district leadership and classroom teachers to improve student learning.
Essential Functions :
- Assist teachers with the implementation of Arkansas State Standards of Mathematics and mathematical practice
- Assist teachers with the implementation of Arkansas State Science Standards including science practice
- Assist the K-4 Math and Science Specialists, building principals, and district directors in creating and implementing district Mathematics and Science plans based on the Arkansas Standards for Math and Science
- Demonstrate exemplary math and science instruction for K-4 teachers through the Student-Centered Coaching Model : framing coaching around a goal(s) for student learning, collaborative lesson planning, gathering student evidence, debrief / reflection over student work, modeling, co-teaching and post assessment
- Assist in providing K-4 teachers (regular classroom, SPED, ESL, etc.) with training in content, pedagogy, and instructional strategies that are robust and provide a coherent and rich preparation for elementary math and science
- Assist teachers in diagnosing individual student mathematics and science weaknesses, match these areas of need with appropriate instructional interventions and resources
- Assist school teams in creating common formative assessments
- Assist teachers in utilizing district’s Response to Intervention Protocol
- Lead building efforts to analyze assessment data and assist administrators and teachers with the placement of students in appropriate interventions / programs
- Assist in providing intervention for students using Numeracy Project (up to 90 minutes per day)
- Assist with disaggregating and analyzing District and State assessment data to help guide teacher’s instructional decisions
- Monitor and report the effectiveness of improved mathematics and science instruction (as impacted by coaching cycles) through student performance data to building principals and PLC teams
- Help make recommendations regarding instructional materials
- Help create math / science curriculum units and assessments as needed
- Participate in various training sessions for leaders and teachers of mathematics / science
- Meet regularly with the district Math / Science Specialist
Additional Duties :
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the school principal and other Central Office Administrators as designated by the Superintendent

Experience :
