Building Bridges - Pre-K Lead Teacher
Title : Pre-K Lead Teacher for Building Bridges
Qualifications : 18 years or older with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or Child Development, and experience working in a pre-k classroom preferred
Reports To : Site Supervisor, Team Lead and Program Coordinator
Location : Building Bridges Pre-K
Supervises : Instructional Aides, Relief Staff and Substitutes

Job Goals : Responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and quality early learning environment for children and families we serve. Ensure DHS minimum licensing, Better Beginnings and grant requirements are met on a daily basis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performance Value :

1. Plans for and implements pleasant arrivals and departures.
2. Uses routines as a time to build relationships and learning opportunities.

Activities and Environment
9. Maintains a clean, organized, inviting environment that is safe and developmentally appropriate.
10. Plans and implements a variety of engaging learning experiences in all areas of development for children through a weekly lesson plan.
11. Uses the outdoors as part of the learning environment.
12. Teaches and provides guidance in the development of good health habits.
13. Plans and implements a daily schedule that meets the needs of individual children.
14. Accepts responsibility for shared space.
15. Continually rotates and sanitizes materials and disposes of broken or recalled items.
16. Maintains children’s portfolios and updates weekly.
17. Completes assessments in a timely manner following grant guidelines.
18. Conferences with parents a minimum of twice yearly on child’s progress.
19. Successfully implements the approved curriculum.
20. Lifts 10-30 pounds regularly, up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Professional Responsibilities
21. Meets program requirements for attendance as outlined in the personnel handbook.
22. Submits time off (or calls ESS) and clocks in / out at assigned time in Frontline. Is punctual.
23. Maintains a professional appearance and follows the dress code.
24. Open to new ideas and takes initiative.
25. Accepts responsibility for job-related tasks, to include any documentation and / or record keeping.
26. Attends all staff meetings and meets program expectations for professional development (30 hours
annually).
27. Knows and is able to follow emergency procedures and risk management protocol.
28. Keeps Site Supervisor apprised of group’s status and status of individual children as needed.
29. Completes all Better Beginnings requirements.
30. Accepts all assignments given by supervisors.
31. Maintains all program requirements : minimum licensing, program policies and quality expectations.
32. Completes yearly self-evaluation.
33. Uses good judgment and keeps information confidential.
34. Handles child guidance and discipline issues as needed.
Interactions with Parents and Staff
35. Works to build positive relationships with parents, co-workers and others.
36. Communicates effectively with parents, co-workers and others daily; avoids gossip.
37. Works as a part of a team with concern for the entire program and is flexible.
38. Assists in planning family involvement activities to strengthen families.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : Based on Child Enrichment Services Salary Schedule.
EVALUATION : Performance of this job will be evaluated based on the Child Enrichment Services Personnel Handbook and District Classified Personnel Evaluation.
