Job Overview
The Probation Officer/Collections/Clerk position is a blended position under the direct supervision of the Probate Judge and general direction of the Magistrate and Court Administrator. The Probation Officer supervises and monitors persons placed on probation to enforce and ensure compliance with court orders. This position also periodically requires providing assistance with addressing the needs of the public. These include answering phone calls, assisting at the service window, and other limited clerical duties.
Duties include, but are not limited to, developing and/or referring clients to community programs in an effort to rehabilitate and prevent future violations; enforce payments of fines and costs; complete alcohol and/or drug urine collection for testing; and regularly meet with probationers to assess and monitor compliance with their probationary terms and conditions.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in probation, criminal justice, social work, counseling or a closely related field.
- Experience in probation, counseling, mental health, corrections , substance abuse, or related area preferred.
- Knowledge of Judicial Information System (JIS) and the Judicial Management System (JMS) computer systems desired, but not required.
