We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Site Controller to oversee the financial operations of our vertically integrated Bitcoin mining and Data Center colocation site in Barker, NY. The Site Controller will be responsible for a variety of accounting and financial management tasks, ensuring the integrity of financial data and compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires collaboration with various departments, including Operations, Capital Projects, and Finance, to optimize financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Close:
- Assist with the month/quarterly and year-end financial close process, including accruals management and other financial closing transactions.
Accruals:
- Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals to ensure accurate financial reporting.
2. Invoicing Oversight:
- Ensure timely invoicing against contracts, verifying that all invoices have been received for open contracts.
- Collaborate with contract managers to resolve any discrepancies.
- Work with the team to accurately track and adjust milestones tied to payment schedules for precise cash flow management.
3. Cash Flow Forecasting:
- Lead cash flow forecasting initiatives in collaboration with Operations, Capital Projects, and Finance teams.
- Utilize Excel spreadsheets for short-term forecasting while developing a long-term solution via SharePoint or a software tool for automated reporting based on payment schedules and milestones.
- Forecast weekly payments to stakeholders ensuring timely and accurate disbursements.
4. Audit Coordination:
- Assist in preparing for and responding to audit requests, ensuring all necessary documentation is accurate and readily available.
- Support both the financial and internal controls audit.
5. Tax Management:
- Review parcel figures for tax increases and collaborate with relevant departments to ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Support sales tax as it relates to exemptions and the monthly/quarterly sales tax filings.
- Tax allocation across tenants.
6. Accounts Payable Management:
- Ensure all invoices are accurately input into the Accounts Payable system, maintaining proper accounting codes for all transactions.
7. Accounting Code Compliance:
- Ensure the proper use of accounting codes in all financial documentation and reporting, providing training to staff as necessary.
8. Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present financial reports to upper management, highlighting key financial metrics and variances.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts, providing insights into decision making.
9. Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within financial operations, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
10. Contract Management:
- Have experience with contracts and track financial contracts, ensuring compliance and accuracy throughout the process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in a manufacturing, construction, or technological environment.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an assistant controller.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and experience with financial software tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements.
