- Work Hours:
o Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM CST
o 40–50 hours per week
o Candidate may be required to work additional hours (evenings, weekends, holidays) with prior written approval.

Position Summary
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking an experienced Database Administrator 3 (DB2 DBA) to provide critical support for database management systems and application functionality within the agency.
The candidate will:
- Analyze application functions and data processing needs.
- Resolve data correction issues to ensure uninterrupted agency services.
- Edit, correct, or develop new software solutions as needed.
- Create clear and comprehensive support documentation.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain system integrity.
All work products from this assignment are considered “works made for hire” and property of TXDPS.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced application and database support.
- Perform in-depth analysis of application functions and data processing.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data integrity issues.
- Maintain accurate support documentation for all software and processes.
- Edit, correct, and develop new software solutions.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, state regulations, and agency policies.
- Participate in special projects as directed.
- Maintain operational readiness during hybrid work conditions.
- Adhere to agency security protocols and data privacy regulations.
- Support audit and compliance activities as needed.
Candidate Minimum Qualifications
Years of Experience Required / Preferred Skill
8 years Required DB2 Database Administration
3 years Required AIX / Unix / Linux Platform Experience
3 years Required Shell Programming / Scripting
5 years Preferred DB2 Z/OS Experience
Education & Certifications
- No specific degree requirement listed, but extensive, relevant experience in database administration is mandatory.
- Certifications in DB2 Database Administration or related technologies preferred.
- Knowledge of government data systems and regulatory environments is beneficial.
