BereaCorps positions are grant-funded, one-year contract positions from June 1, 2025 - May 31, 2026, with the possibility of a one-year extension. The positions are only available to 2024 and May 2025 Berea graduates, that have completed all of their coursework by May 2025.
This is a 12-month, grant-funded position offered through the BereaCorps program. The Athletic Events Associate is responsible for coordinating the athletic marketing and game day promotion efforts for home Berea College athletic events and creating an awards/incentive program for fan engagement. Additionally, the Athletic Events Associate will support the sports information coverage of Berea College’s intercollegiate athletic teams and management of home athletic events.

- Create fun, engaging activities for the campus community at home athletic events to generate school spirit;
- Develop an awards/incentive program designed to enhance spectator attendance;
- Assist with establishing local community partnerships to support marketing and promotions initiatives;
- Meet with key campus constituents (e.g., SGA, residence life staff, etc.) to introduce the spirit program;
- Develop a student-focused spectator guide for the campus community;
- Create a training guide and manual to successfully transition and infuse the essential elements of the department’s marketing and promotions strategy into the College’s labor program to ensure continuity.
- Support the management of home athletic contests, including oversight of concessions operations, ticket operations, greeting the visiting team and officials, sports information staff and event staff;
- Assist with managing the Berea College Athletics sports information department in compliance with all institutional, conference and NCAA Division III rules and regulations;
- Assist with hiring, training and managing student workers to assist in sports information and event operations;
- Manage content on the departmental website;
- Produce press releases and other athletic marketing segments under the guidance of the Assistant AD for External Operations;
- Provide athletics social media content;
- Develop human interest stories for the department, conference website and other various publications;
- Distribute press releases to alumni, media or other appropriate constituencies;
- Support statistical generation and reporting to the conference office and NCAA;
- Assist with managing the Berea College Sports Network audio and video coverage of athletic events;
- Help distribute the Visitor’s Guide and serve as a departmental point of contact for the conference SID, visiting SID’s and media;
- Assist with the creation of programs or game note sheets for home sporting events.
- Actively participate in workshops and professional development opportunities provided by the BereaCorps program.
- In support of Berea College’s great commitments this position requires student supervision. The fourth great commitment is to promote learning and serving in community through the student labor program, honoring the dignity and utility of all work, mental and manual, and taking pride in work well done. The Supervision would include scheduling, assigning and approving work performed. Developing students about common workplace acumen and giving them tangible work experience is an expected outcome. What You'll Bring:
Education required to ensure success in this position:
- Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, management, communications or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience in marketing or communications preferred;
- On-deadline writing experience, with 1-2 years of athletic communications experience preferred;
- Experience with website platforms (e.g., Sidearm, PrestoSports or similar) preferred;
- Experience with game or event management.
- Organizational, leadership and time management skills;
- Superior communication (oral, written and interpersonal) skills;
- Photo and video editing experience;
- Familiarity with livestreaming options and services;
- Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., Genius LiveStats, StatCrew,etc.) as well as Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office;
- Understanding and agreement with the mission and Great Commitments of Berea College;
- Ability to work with and relate well to students, faculty, staff, coaches, alumni and potential business partners;
- Willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays when necessary.
- Strong interest in intercollegiate athletics administration and familiarity with the NCAA Division III philosophy.
- Valid Driver’s License;
- CPR/AED/First Aid;
- Berea College golf cart certification.
- For any certifications not possessed upon hire, certifications must be promptly attained and regularly maintained.
- Some heavy lifting, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs;
- Ability to move freely throughout a four-floor, 106,996 square foot athletic and recreation facility;
- Ability to move freely throughout outdoor athletic facilities that feature three athletic fields (baseball, softball and soccer), as well as an outdoor track, a 10-court tennis complex and a cross-country course.
- It is expected that the individual in this position will work at times other than, or in addition to, normal business hours and days, including attendance at numerous evening and weekend athletic events. This is especially true from August to May.
