Description :

BereaCorps positions are grant-funded, one-year contract positions from June 1, 2025 - May 31, 2026, with the possibility of a one-year extension. The positions are only available to 2024 and May 2025 Berea graduates, that have completed all of their coursework by May 2025.

This developmental position provides new HR professionals the opportunity to rapidly grow their careers. The BereaCorps HR Systems Associate will work closely with the Manager of HR Systems and Services to utilize and maximize the College's usage of our current workforce management platform, HRIS system, and benefits and timekeeping platforms. The HR Systems Associate also has the responsibility of assisting in the planning, design, and delivery of training and educational resources associated with these platforms for faculty and staff. The HR Systems Associate works within a highly collaborative and team-based organization providing hands-on skills, knowledge, and project management to address the training, programming and systems needs of campus.

Your Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist with refining NEOED, the College's workforce management platform, to facilitate career development and improve retention and morale.
  • Assist HR with upgrading the orientation experience to assure new employees understand the Berea culture, Student Labor supervision, and how to support students on campus in general.
  • Work with HR, IT and other departments to identify duplicate applications and systems and work toward the reduction of their inefficiencies and cost. Opportunities have been targeted in the areas of timekeeping, training platforms, intake of benefit services and documents.
  • Provide customer service and training to employees concerning benefits, compensation and use of HR Systems such as the benefits enrollment portal and workforce management and timekeeping platforms.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and record training activities and training program effectiveness.
  • Schedule and coordinate training events (e.g., room reservation, food orders, setup, etc.).
  • Work with HR, IT, and vendor partners such as Ellucian to implement efficiency improvements to Banner, NEOED, etc. that will allow HR to more actively support Berea Balance and Students First initiatives.
  • Assist the Manager of HR Systems and Services in assessing training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultation with managers or customer representatives.
  • Other roles / duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty, and students.

Education required to ensure success in this position :

  • Bachelor's Degree from Berea College with a graduation date in 2024 or spring 2025
  • Experience required to ensure success in this position :

  • History of success in a higher education setting and / or working collaboratively with diverse faculty / staff, alumni, donors, and students.
  • Special skills, knowledge and abilities :

  • Strong understanding of and appreciation for the Berea College purpose and Great Commitments.
  • Ability to work independently and recognize opportunities and create effective strategies to engage prospects with Berea College resulting in increased support.

  • Professional office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors, students, staff and faculty
  • Occasional travel required for meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment :

  • Computer literacy and strong aptitude for the following tasks : use of internet and e-mail; navigating Argos, Banner, NEOED, data entry; word processing; experience with Excel and PowerPoint.
